The Blog to End All Blogs

Throughout my blog posts, I examined the effectiveness of interactivity. As a first-time reader of electronic literature, I was intrigued by the interactive elements of every work we played. As the semester progressed, I began to compare different games and question the importance of many aspects of electronic literature.

In my first blog post, I discussed interactivity and found fragmentation to be an effective method of displaying emotions through a work. In addition, most of my blog posts compared works to Choose Your Own Adventure books. The CYOA project was my first glimpse into interactive literature and I continued to see its elements in most works throughout the semester. “Choose Your Own Adventure books have not disappeared but rather evolved”, I write in my second blog post as I discover the beauty of Twine. A theme of me discovering different forms of electronic literature and its great aspects is seen throughout my blogs. As someone who had no idea what electronic literature was on the first day of the semester, I was impressed with every new work. In addition, my views on effective elements of electronic literature began to change as I learned more about electronic literature as Dakota caused me to question the need for interactivity in my third blog post.

Furthermore, my ability to truly analyze and understand an electronic literature piece and its elements began to develop throughout the semester. By my last blog post, I was able to connect what we had learned at the beginning of the semester to How to Rob a Bank. When first learning about the affordances of a book, I did not quite understand its connection to electronic literature but by the end of the semester, I was able to truly understand the beauty of electronic literature and its connection to literature as a whole.
